Welcome, Foolish Mortals…

Hiya, everybody! Welcome to my blog!

My name is Aaron, though my online handle is more often than not “Doombug”. Yes, that’s directly taken from the “doombuggies” that you ride on the Haunted Mansion.

I’m often the “go to guy” amongst friends when they’re planning a Walt Disney World vacation. I offer advice about everything from hotels to Photopasses, and there’s little I enjoy more than talking about Disney.

Yep. This is me, the pretty pretty Disney Princess, goofing around on our magical Disney World honeymoon.

That’s really where this blog idea originated. After helping various friends plan their various vacations I decided to start writing a Walt Disney World travel guide. Eventually I realized that it was less about travel and more about me sharing stories of my time in the parks, so I decided to just bring those to the forefront and write them here.

I love Disney in general, and Walt Disney World in particular. I’ve been going there since I was a very small child. My grandparents lived not far from Orlando, and multiple times a year my family would trek down from Massachusetts to visit. I was an annual passholder at a young age, and when I went off to college I ended up in Orlando. I even spent a brief stint as a cast member at the (at the time) Disney/MGM Studios park. Since then I’ve still gone to the parks at every opportunity and in May of 2013 had a magical Disney World honeymoon after a Disney-themed wedding.

Looking around my apartment, I can see: Disney character stickers all over my desk, a sizeable collection of Disney movies and books, two corkboards of pins, the Disney Infinity figures all over the top of the TV, five different sets of Mouse Ear hats (including bride and groom), two different framed pictures of my wife and I at Walt Disney World, a Haunted Mansion music box and plush hitchhiking ghosts, a Tick Tock clock (the crocodile from Peter Pan), and more. I’m fairly sure there’s something Disney related in every room of my apartment.

Also, I once rode Haunted Mansion 13 times in one day. Expect me to mention that attraction once in a while. It’s kind of a thing. My wedding vest was the purple-and-black Haunted Mansion  wallpaper print.

My daughter and I, at my wedding in May 2013. My vest and the “groomsquad” ties were custom-made Haunted Mansion.

So, as I think I’ve made obvious, I love Disney. It’s been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, and pixie dust well and truly runs in my veins.

So what can you expect to read about? I’m… not entirely sure yet. As I said, I’ll be sharing anecdotes from my myriad Disney trips. I’ll also be talking about Disney news when I’ve got something to say, I may reminisce about favorite attractions long gone (cough*Horizons*cough), and who knows what else. I’m a hardcore video gamer, so I would imagine that some talk about Disney games would happen sooner or later, and possibly reviews or discussions of Disney movies and books.

Mostly this is an opportunity for a life-long Disney fan to talk about Disney, and I hope that any readers will enjoy the ride. Just be sure to keep your hands and arms inside.

So welcome aboard!

Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas.
